Mehrab Al-Quran محراب القرآن
A live, verified Quran teacher in seconds — free, in 12 languages — with speech-recognition tools that keep the student moving when every teacher is busy.
The problem
Most Muslims have no reliable way to reach a qualified teacher who holds an ijazah. Where such teachers exist, lessons are expensive — which excludes exactly the people who need it most: women, children, converts, and families living outside Muslim-majority countries.
The scarce thing was never willingness. It is a qualified teacher, affordable, at the hour the student is actually free.
What we built
Open the app and you are in a live call with a verified teacher within seconds — recitation, tajweed correction, memorization. Free and unlimited, across 12 interface languages, with automatic same-gender matching.
When every teacher is busy, our speech-recognition tools take over: they listen to the student's recitation, test memorization and correct tajweed — so learning does not stop at 3am.
Traction
Why we win
- Free at the core. Our teachers serve as volunteers, so a lesson costs us infrastructure rather than payroll — which is what lets the core stay free and unlimited.
- Instant by default, scheduled by choice. A student can start right now with whoever is free, or book a specific teacher at a specific time through Plus+.
- A cost base that is hard to replicate. Self-hosted real-time infrastructure instead of CPaaS; our own speech models instead of per-request vendor inference.
- Reach. iOS, Android, Huawei AppGallery, Windows and web — including the stores our audience actually uses.
Market
Roughly two billion Muslims worldwide. The market we actually address is the segment already paying for online Quran tuition: Gulf households, and diaspora families across Europe, North America and South-East Asia.
Saudi Arabia is already our second-largest market by users, with no local spend at all.
How we earn
The core stays free and unlimited. Revenue comes from Mehrab Plus+ — scheduled lessons at a chosen time and premium availability — and Mehrab AI Plus+, which lifts the daily limits on the AI tools.
The growth motion is institutional: teaching hours sold to Quran academies, schools and جمعيات for their own students.
Team
- Ahmed Hany — Co-founder & CTO. Ships the entire platform across five operating systems. Previously team lead at Tru.net; also built egytrains, ~1M visitors a month, entirely organic.
- Hosny Mahmoud — Co-founder & CEO. Leads the teacher network, community and operations.
Where we stand
- Bootstrapped — no outside capital, revenue-generating, and not currently raising.
- Current constraint is supply: recruiting and verifying ijazah-holding teachers fast enough to meet demand that already runs around the clock.
What we're looking for
We are not raising. We want institutional distribution partners — Quran academies, mosques, Islamic schools and جمعيات who would rather run their programme on a platform than build one, and who can bring their teachers with them. Most valuable to us in KSA, the UAE, South-East Asia and the UK.
